Question

What is uncertain in the uncertainty principle?

Open in App
Solution

Uncertain in the uncertainty principle:

  1. The position and momentum of a small particle-like electron that cannot be determined simultaneously is known as the uncertainty principle.
  2. According to this principle, mathematically, xph2πwhere,x is the uncertainty in position ,p is the uncertainty in momentum and h is the plank's constant.
  3. As x1p, thus, if momentum is known (i.e. p is small) then the position is more uncertain (i.e. x is large) and vice versa.
