CBSE Clarifies NEET to be considered as first attempt

As per the Medical council of India (MCI)-the apex body for medical education in the country, there has no decision been taken yet on the number of attempts to be allowed which would mean more chances would be given. Before this, the CBSE had ruled that candidates who had failed in three attempts were barred from taking the test further. The NEET is held in 8 languages with only two study materials available. The test was introduced after the petitions that challenged the AIPMT were discarded by the Supreme Court.

As per the Health Ministry statement, the NEET -2017 would be considered as the first attempt regardless of the earlier attempts in the AIPMT/NEET.

On the 7th of May around 10 lakh aspirants are expected to appear for the test.  As per the CBSE, the system for online application has been upgraded where disqualified students would be allowed to fill the application.

As per the words of the MCI secretary, the general body of the council is yet to decide on the number of attempts to be allowed.
