Dimensional Formula of Current Density
The dimensional formula of current density is given by,
[M0 L-2 T0 I1]
Where,
- M = Mass
- I = Current
- L = Length
- T = Time
Derivation
Current Density = Charge Γ [Area Γ Time]-1 . . . (1)
Since, charge = current Γ time
Therefore, the dimensions of electric charge = [M0 L0 I1 T1] . . . . (2)
And, the dimensional formula of,
Area = [M0 L2 T0] . . . (3)
Time = [M0 L0 T1] . . . . (4)
On substituting equation (2) and (3) in equation (1) we get,
Current Density = Charge Γ [Area Γ Time]-1
= [M0 L0 I1 T1] Γ [M0 L2 T0]-1 Γ [M0 L0 T1]-1 = [M0 L-2 T0 I1].
Therefore, the current density is dimensionally represented as [M0 L-2 T0 I1].
