JEE Mains is a national level exam conducted to get into institutes like NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. This exam will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). It has been announced that this exam will be conducted twice in a year.
Candidate can appear for three attempts for JEE mains. This exam will be conducted two times in a year that is in January and April, so total attempts are six. Hence the students will get chance to appear three times and can try for better score in order to get the best college for engineering. It is not necessary to appear for both exams which will be held in January and April. A candidate can either give one exam or both as per his/her wish. Exam pattern for JEE Mains will be having total 90 questions, containing 30 questions each from Chemistry, Maths and Physics. All questions will be of multiple choice question types with single correct answer. 4 marks will be given for correct answer, 1 mark will be deducted for incorrect answer and no marks will be given for unanswered question. This exam will be conducted in online mode, the benefit of this is the candidate can change his/her answer any time during the exam which is not possible in pen and paper offline mode.
After qualifying JEE Mains, a candidate is eligible to appear for JEE Advanced which is more difficult than JEE Mains. But if a candidate score high in JEE Advanced he/she will be eligible to get admission in any of 23 IITs across the country.
