Karnataka Common Entrance Test abbreviated as KCET is a state level entrance examination conducted every year by Karnataka Examination Authority(KEA) which offers deserving candidates admissions into various full-time undergraduate courses such as Engineering, Architecture, Pure Sciences, Farm Science, etc. in the state of Karnataka. It was established by the government of Karnataka in the year 1994 to widen the prospects of quality education to eligible candidates. The courses offered by KCET are as follows:
List Of Courses Offered In KCET And Eligibility Criteria
- Engineering Programs
The candidate must have passed 2nd PUC/ 12th standard or any other equivalent examination with 45% marks in Physics and Mathematics along with any one of Chemistry/Biology/Bo-Technology/Electronics/Computer Engineering(B.E.)/Technology(Tech) and English as a language subject and for reserved category candidates the qualifying marks criteria is 40%.
- Medical(MBBS)/Dental(BDS)
For admissions to medical and dental courses candidates have to appear for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) – 2017 conducted by CBSE.
- Ayurveda, Homeopathy, Unani, Naturopathy and Yoga (ISM and H)
The candidate must have passed 2nd PUC/ 12th standard or any other equivalent examination with English as one of the languages and a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. For the candidates belonging to the reserved category, the criteria are 40%.
- Architecture (B.Arch)
The candidates must have passed in 2nd PUC/12th standard or any other equivalent examination with Mathematics as compulsory optional subject and should have scored a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in all the subjects. For candidates belonging to reserved category minimum aggregate marks required is 45%.
- Sc. (Agriculture/Forestry/Sericulture/Agri. Biotech/Horticulture/Ag. Marketing and Co-operation), B.H.Sc(Bachelor of Home Science), B.Tech(Food Technology/Dairy Technology/Food Science & Technology/Agriculture Engineering), B.F.Sc.(Bachelor of Fisheries and Science)
The candidates seeking admission to these courses must have passed in 2nd PUC/12th standard/ any other equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology as optional subjects.
- Bachelor of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry (B.V.Sc & A.H.)
The candidate must have passed in 2nd PUC/12th standard/ any other equivalent examination with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as the language subject. For reserved category candidates, the marks required is 40%.
- B-Pharma
The candidate seeking admissions in this course must have passed in 2nd PUC/12thstandard/ any other equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and either of Mathematics or Biology. For reserved category candidates, the marks required is 40%.
Or the candidates who have passed in Diploma in Pharmacy Examination and secured a minimum of 45% marks from an institution which is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under Section 12 of Pharmacy Act. For the reserved category candidates, this criterion is 40%.
- 2nd Year B. Pharma
For students seeking admission into this category, the candidates who have passed in Diploma in Pharmacy Examination and secured a minimum of 45% marks from an institution which is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under Section 12 of Pharmacy Act. For the reserved category candidates, this criterion is 40%.
- Pharma-D
The candidate seeking admissions in this course must have passed in 2nd PUC/12th standard/ any other equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and either of Mathematics or Biology or the candidates should have passed in Diploma in Pharmacy Examination from an institution which is approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under Section 12 of Pharmacy Act.
The candidates seeking admissions into these courses must fill the application form which will be available only in online mode tentatively from 2nd week of January 2017.
