Srinagar Students Appeals to Modify NEET Applications

NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) 2017 application form has to be modified for certain students from Srinagar as they have appealed to the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) to make changes in their application forms as they have made some errors while filling the online application form “unintentionally”.  The students have appealed to the CBSE Board chairman to allow them to modify their application forms as a one-time exception by cancelling the declarations for students from Jammu and Kashmir. Students have requested the chairman that if there is no possibility for modification of the application, they should kindly be allowed to make a fresh application so that they do not lose the chance to appear for the exam this year. However, as per an official release, there exists no possibility for modifying the application.

Regarding the criteria for seat reservation

Around 15 per cent all India seat quota for dental and medical colleges has been renounced by students this year, but not every student studied in the state has the eligibility to apply for these seats.

Students who have not studied in the state and could not apply for admission there could apply for the all India quota seats of 15 percent given that they have signed the declaration provided in the form’s Appendix III.

The students have asked help from the state’s Education Minister and the Jammu and Kashmir’s Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE) chairman regarding the cancellation of their declarations.

The NEET Exam is conducted for providing admission seats for BDS/MBBS courses in the country for dental and medical colleges accredited by the Dental Council of India /Medical Council of India, run under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare with the exception of certain institutes formed by a  Parliamentary Act like JIPMER Puducherry and AIIMS.
