My Favourite Animal

Since my childhood, I have been keen on wildlife; this interest developed because of my grandfather. He always took me to open areas and parks, where there was plenty of greenery, to make me understand the various inhabitants. I had the opportunity to visit the local zoo twice and enjoyed the most watching various animals. The main reason for my affection towards the animals is because of their pure intentions towards other animals and human beings.

Among all the animals, my favourite animal is the elephant. During the summer break after my 4th standard, I visited the zoo with my cousins; it was then I saw the elephant taking a shower by itself and enjoying it the most. It was having its merry time, and people were enjoying watching the elephant. I even saw a baby elephant beside it, and it was rolling on the mud and playing. Looking at the pleasant view made me feel happy and cheerful. I always wondered how an elephant would behave because of its huge structure. With this experience, I understood the true nature of elephants.

In our community, a procession is organised during the month of November as a part of Swamy Ayyappa’s yearly celebrations. The Lord’s deity was kept on the elephant, which was decorated beautifully. It was a mesmerising and divine view to watch. These incidents made me get attached to elephants. I always wanted to climb over the elephant and experience the ride. This dream got fulfilled during my bachelor’s. During my industrial trip to Kerala, we visited the local places and went to an elephant riding spot. I was excited to take the ride, and when the ride started, I was very nervous, thinking I might fall. After a while, I started looking at my surroundings; it was so clear as I was on top of an elephant. I enjoyed the ride, and it was the most memorable moment of my life. Elephants teach us how to be calm and stable, even while having such a huge figure. We should only bring out our real strength when it is actually required. The way it looks after the bay shows the caring nature of elephants. Wild elephants appear ferocious and move in groups, and they become alert when they sense the slightest danger.
