MBSE-Mizoram Board of School Education

Mizoram Board of School Education (MBSE) is an autonomous body constituted to upgrade the education level in Mizoram state. MBSE is responsible to supervise and regulate the schools which comes under the Mizoram State Board. The duties and responsibilities are performed by MBSE Chairman.

MBSE was established in 1975 by the Government of Mizoram under MBSE Act and started functioning since 2nd December 1976. It has headquarters in Aizwal, Mizoram. It conducts exams for senior secondary (SSC) and higher secondary schools (HSC) in state level as well.

Functions Performed by MBSE

MBSE, conducts its academic functions from Class 1st to Class 12th in every school of Mizoram, which comes under Mizoram Board. Below are the list of functions operated by this constitution;

  • MBSE generates and regulates rules for all public and private schools affiliated to Mizoram State Board.
  • MBSE is responsible to prescribed syllabus for regular and vocational students.
  • MBSE conducts examination for Mizoram State Board affiliated school and is responsible to declare the results.
  • MBSE conducts exam for both public and private schools.
  • MBSE monitors all the administrative work done in the schools.

MBSE Syllabus

Mizoram Board of School Education syllabus for High School, Higher Secondary and DIET are available here along with the list of textbooks. The aspiring students can get the respective syllabus details.

The NCERT textbooks are preferred to cover all the syllabus as they are completely in accordance to MBSE curriculum and most of the questions are prepared in exams using these textbooks. MBSE is responsible to upgrade the syllabus in coordination with the state government.

MBSE Examinations

MBSE conducts exams High School, Higher Secondary School, DIET, Mizoram Teacher Eligibility test (MTET) and State Medical and Technical Entrance Examination (SMATEE). The declaration for Exam Timetable, Admit Cards, Exam Centre, Paper Pattern and Results, everything is done by Mizoram State Board.

MBSE SSC Exam is usually conducted in the month of February-March and HSC Exam is conducted in March, every year. Results for both the exams are usually declared at the end of May or beginning of June.

MBSE Affiliation

Under the MBSE affiliation conditions, the public and private schools in Mizoram are affiliated to Mizoram State Board, which are defined by MBSE board. The list of affiliated schools is available here district-wise.

MBSE Board Structure

As we mentioned in the introduction, the Chairman of the MBSE will monitor the rules and regulations under MBSE Act and is having power to take necessary action when required.

Under the Mizoram State Board, there are three branches;

Each branch has its own ruling head and its own specifications.
