Olympic Values Education Programme launched by CM Naveen Patnaik in 90 schools

Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) launched in 90 schools of Rourkela and Bhubaneswar with a goal to instilate the core Olympic values in the mind of the future of the students.President of Indian Olympic Association Dr Narinder Dhruv Batra, IOC member Nita Ambani and IOC Athletes’ Commission Abhinav Bindra for the development of sports in Odisha and the Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik were a part of the launch.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik virtually launched the Olympic Values Education Programme (OVEP) in 90 schools. The pilot project has been initiated in the schools of Rourkela and Bhubaneswar and later will be expanded in other schools in the upcoming days, as per a press release issued by the office of Chief Minister.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has designed the set with an aim to introduce children to the values of excellence, respect and friendship that Olympic depicts. The goal is to make the young citizens active, healthy and responsible for the future.

CM Patnaik appreciated the contributions of the state’s partners in sports — president of Indian Olympic Association Dr Narinder Dhruv Batra, IOC member Nita Ambani and IOC Athletes’ Commission Abhinav Bindra for the development of sports in Odisha.

Chairperson and founder of Reliance Industries, Nita Ambani who is also a member of the IOC emphasised that OVEP is standing on two great powers of education and sports and will be great for inculcating the core values of Olympic.

In the virtual launch, Nita Ambani said that, “Under the visionary leadership of Patnaik ji, through increased investments and dedicated efforts, Odisha has become a hub of India’s sporting ambitions. The state is actively creating a holistic ecosystem for sports, which provides top quality training and infrastructures to our young athletes.”

President of Odisha Hockey Promotion Council Dilip Tirkey, minister of school & mass education Sameer Ranjan Dash, minister of sports Tushar Kanti Behera, chief secretary Suresh Mohapatra, secretary, school & mass education Bishnupada secretary sports Vyneel Krishna and others were also present in the virtual launch.
