Solution

Innate Immune System:

  1. Innate immunity, also known as nonspecific immunity, is our natural defensive mechanism since birth.
  2. Examples are macrophages, eosinophils, natural killer cells, dendritic cells, mast cells, basophils, and neutrophils.

Adaptive Immune System:

  1. The adaptive immune system is the acquired immune system, which develops as we get exposed to microbes and antigens.
  2. Adaptive immune responses are designed to eliminate invading infections and any harmful chemicals they create.
  3. They are the second line of defense. Their response time is more than 96 hours.
  4. Examples are B-cells and T-cells, etc.

B-cells:

  1. B-cells are White Blood Cells (WBC) that produce antibodies to combat germs and viruses.
  2. They are lymphocytes and develop from bone marrow from hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). They are part of the adaptive immune system.
