Open in App
Solution

Excretory System:

  1. Elimination of toxins and harmful materials after metabolic activities in the body requires an excretory system.
  2. Different organisms have different ways of excreting toxins.
  3. Various nitrogenous waste products formed are ammonia, urea, and uric acid. Other waste products include carbon dioxide, salts, and water.
  4. Carbon dioxide is eliminated from the body with the help of the lungs. Lungs are the primary organs of the respiratory system. Since they help in the elimination of carbon dioxide, they also form a part of the excretory system.

Examples of various excretory organs:

  1. Humans- kidneys, ureter, urethra, urinary bladder, skin, liver, intestine, and lungs.
  2. Fish- skin, gills, kidneys.
  3. Earthworms- Nephridia.
  4. Cockroaches- Malpighian tubules.
