Open in App
Solution

Enzymes:

  1. Enzymes are biological polymers which catalyze biochemical reactions.
  2. They are mostly proteins with catalytic capabilities to perform different functions.
  3. Chemical reactions and metabolic processes in the cells are carried out by a different set of enzymes.
  4. The substrate binds to the enzyme undergoing a conformational change, breaking it down into products.
  5. The enzymes change their shape which is known as induced fit.
  6. Enzymes can reverse back to their original shape once the reaction is carried out.
  7. Examples- ligases, salivary amylase, trypsin, maltase, etc.
