Does transpiration need sunlight?

Open in App
Solution

Transpiration:

  1. Water is lost from the aerial regions of plants in the form of water vapor through a biological process called transpiration.
  2. The rate of transpiration is regulated by the opening of the stomata.
  3. Generally , light causes the stomata to open, and during the day, they stay open to enable CO diffusion for photosynthesis, leading to increased rates of transpiration.
