Diseases due to pathogenic bacteria:

  1. A pathogen is nothing but a living thing that can cause various infectious diseases.
  2. Bacteria and viruses can also be pathogens.
  3. Salmonella, mycobacterium, yersinia, and brucella all are examples of pathogenic bacteria.
  4. Though we have good bacteria in our body, there are several bacteria that make us fall sick.
  5. Pathogenic bacteria do follow a number of mechanisms that can cause disease in human bodies.
  6. Some pathogenic bacteria infect the human body via a skin cut, sexual activity, or compromised immune function.
  7. Some bacteria damage tissues or cells directly and cause disease.
  8. For example, when Clostridium tetani invade the body they secrete toxin products that cause painful muscle contractions, particularly in the jaw and neck.This disease is known as tetanus.
  9. A strain of E.coli bacteria releases a toxin called Shiga that damages the lining of the small intestine in the human body and causes diarrhea.
  10. Streptococcus bacteria get spread by direct contact with discharges from the nose and throat of infected people.
  11. Staphylococcus bacteria enter through a skin cut and then the heart through the bloodstream.
