Some rhizobia are inefficient, forming nodules but without fixing nitrogen.
Dig out multiple plants and wash root systems in water to remove soil to check for effective rhizobia and nitrogen fixation in the field.
Take 2–3 nodules from each plant and cut them in half.
Rhizobium Bacteria require symbiosis to survive. It can be found in the root nodules of some plants, such as legumes, where it collects nitrogen from the air and passes it on to the plant.
In exchange, the plant gives energy in the form of carbohydrates.
