Question

How much of the fluid filtered by the kidney actually becomes urine?

Open in App
Solution

Urine formation by the kidneys:

  1. Human urine is composed of approximately 95% water and 5% solid waste, and it is produced in nephrons of the kidneys.
  2. When primary urine develops and runs down a series of ducts, the nephrons reabsorb nearly all of the fluid as well as any other compounds that are still usable.
  3. At the same time, they release other chemicals. On a daily basis, around 1.7 liters of urine is produced.
