Vault barrier:

  1. The barrier method of contraception prevents pregnancy by blocking the sperm's entry into the uterus.
  2. The barriers need to be inserted into the vagina prior to sex and need to be replaced after intercourse.
  3. The different barriers used are external and internal condoms, diaphragms, cervical caps, and sponges.
  4. Vaults, also referred to as caps are made of rubber and inserted into the female reproductive tract.
  5. They are small, bowl-shaped, and fit over the cervix.
  6. The vaults need to be utilized only under prescription and are used in association with spermicidal creams.
