Solution

Bacteria:

  1. Micro-single-celled organisms that lack a specific nucleus are known as bacteria.
  2. They exist as a single cell, in pairs, chains, or clusters.
  3. Bacteria are found in every living thing on earth: soil, rocks, oceans, and even Arctic ice.

4 types of bacteria:

The comma (Vibrios):

  1. Vibrio is any of the group of comma-shaped bacteria in the Vibrionaceae family.
  2. Vibrios are aquatic microorganisms, some species that cause serious diseases in humans and other animals.
  3. Examples: Vibrio cholerae, Vibrio parahaemolyticus.

Spiral:

  1. Spiral bacteria form the third major morphological series of prokaryotes with spiral (helical) shaped bacteria, rod-shaped bacilli and spherical cocci.
  2. Spiral bacteria can be subclassified by the number of turns per cell, cell thickness, cell flexibility, and motility.
  3. Examples: Spirillum, Campylobacter jejuni, Helicobacter pylori.

Spherical (coccus):

  1. Any bacterium or archaea that has ovaries, spherical-shaped bacteria, or spherical-shaped bacteria in general, is called a coccyx.
  2. Bacteria are divided into three groups based on the shape of their coccyx: Bacillus, Cocci and Spirochetes.
  3. Examples: Anaeroglobus, Veillonella, Acidaminococcus.

Bacilli:

  1. Any of the rod-shaped Gram-positive Bacillus in general, aerobic bacteria that produce endospores and include many saprophytes and some parasites.
  2. Examples: Bacteroides, Fusobacterium, Leptotrichia.
