Flower:

  1. The part of a plant that produces seeds, is comprised of stamens and carpels(reproductive parts), which are generally surrounded by colourful corolla(petals) and green calyx(sepals).

Types of Flowers:

Bisexual flowers:

  1. The flower that has both male(stamen) and female(carpel) reproductive organs is known as a bisexual flower.
  2. Example: Lily (Lilium longiflorum), Rose (Rosa indica), Sunflower (Helianthus annuus), etc.

Unisexual:

  1. Unisexual flowers are those which have only male or female reproductive organs.
  2. Examples: Papaya, cucumber, pumpkin

Actinomorphic:

  1. Actinomorphic flowers can be divided into two equal halves by any radial plane that passes through the centre.
  2. Example: chilli, mustard

Zygomorphic:

  1. A zygomorphic flower is one that may be divided into two equally separated mirror halves that are done on the same plane.
  2. Example: Orchid, and flowers of family Fabaceae.
