Simple staining:

Differential staining:

1. Differential staining is primarily a staining process that uses more than one chemical stain.
2. Multiple stains can be used to better distinguish between different microorganisms or structures and cellular components of an organism.

Special staining:

1. Specialty stains are procedures in which a dye or chemical is usually used that has an attraction for a particular tissue component to be exhibited.
2. They allow for the microscopic view of specific cell types, structures, and the presence or absence of microorganisms.

Negative staining:

1. Acidic staining is used in negative staining and due to the negative charge of the stain and the disruption between the bacterial surface, the dye will not be able to enter the cell.
2. In negative staining, results achieve clear cells with a dark background.
