What are the stages of PCR?

Open in App
Solution

PCR: PCR or Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is a technique used to rapidly amplify small segments of DNA.

The various stages of PCR are :

  1. Denaturation of the template into single strands at 95⁰C.
  2. Annealing of primers to each original strand for new strand synthesis at 55⁰C with the help of Taq polymerase along with dGTP, dCTP, dATP, and dTTP.
  3. Extension of the new DNA strands from the primers at 74⁰C with dNTP and the cycle is repeated 25-30 times.
