Simple carbohydrates are called so because they are quickly broken down and used as energy by the body. Usually, fruit juice concentrates, raw sugar, brown sugar, and corn syrup are high in simple carbohydrates. Most fruits, on the other hand, contain complex carbohydrates – and these are much healthier than simple carbs.
