Question

What genes are passed from father to daughter?

Open in App
Solution

Genes passed from father to daughter:

  1. During reproduction of an offspring the female egg and the male sperm undergo fertilization.
  2. Females are homogametic i.e. having only one type of gamete (22+X) while males are heterogametic i.e. having different types of gametes (22+X) and (22+Y).
  3. The sex of the offspring is determined at the time of fertilization and ony male has the role in determining the sex of the baby.
  4. Thus, the son receives X-linked gene from the mother and Y-linked gene from the father.
  5. And the daughter receives X-linked gene from the mother and the father as well.
