Question

What happens in the synthesis and activation of the enzyme stage of germination?

Open in App
Solution

Plant growth stage:

  1. Plant growth stages include seed germination, vegetative and growth phases, and reproductive stages.
  2. Seed germination is the fundamental process by which many plant species develop from a single seed into a plant.
  3. This procedure has an impact on crop output as well as crop quality.
  4. The sprouting of a seedling from an angiosperm or gymnosperm seed is a frequent example of seed germination.

Synthesis and activation stage of enzyme:

  1. Even while certain enzymes are active in dormant seeds, there is usually a significant increase in enzyme production and activity once germination processes begin.
  2. After hydration, enzyme activity begins fast at the synthesis and activation of the enzyme stage.
  3. When the germination-initiation process occurs, enzymes work partially through reactivation of stored enzymes and partially through enzyme synthesis.
  4. As germination progresses, the activity of enzymes involved in starch, lipid, protein, hemicellulose, and phosphate digestion rises fast.
  5. These hydrolytic enzymes break down complex dietary items into simpler ones that the embryo may easily ingest and transport.
  6. Oxidative enzymes contribute to respiration by releasing the energy needed for cell development and division.
