  1. Absorption is the process where the digested food molecules are absorbed into the bloodstream and then transported to various parts of our body.
  2. The nutrients from the absorbed food are then moved to the cells for various purposes like- growth and repair, reproduction, energy, etc.
  3. This step is called assimilation.

Assimilation:

  1. The process in which vitamins, minerals and other chemicals from food is known as assimilation.
  2. Thus, assimilation happens to digested food after absorption.
