Heart:

  1. The heart is the primary organ of the circulatory system.
  2. It is the fist-sized organ present on the left side of the body.
  3. It pumps the oxygenated blood to the whole body parts.
  4. The heart releases an atrial natriuretic hormone.

Atrial natriuretic hormone:

  1. It is a protein-based hormone secreted and released by the muscle cells of the heart.
  2. The synthesized hormone is released into the heart by cardiomyocytes (heart muscle cells) to combat high blood pressure.
  3. It helps in the reduction of reabsorption of sodium by acting on several segments of the nephron and other inner medullary collecting ducts.
