Homosporous plants :

  1. The plants produce only one kind of spores.
  2. These spores on germination grow into male and female gametophytes.

Example of Homosporous plants :

  1. Lycopodium club mosses
  • The moss contains kidney-shaped sporangia containing only one kind of spore ( Homosporous ).
  • The spores are borne on the upper leaf blade of leaves ( sporophylls).

2. Equisetum

  • The only living pteridophyte of the Equisetaceae family.
  • They also contain one kind of spore, formed on strobili or cones which project individually on the apex of fertile shoots.
