Antrum:

  1. The antrum is found in ovarian follicles filled with follicular fluid which is rich in hyaluronan and proteoglycans, it appears only when the follicle reaches the next stage of maturity.
  2. That is when the secondary follicle transforms into the tertiary follicle.
  3. It is a cavity around the ova that develops in the development of the Graafian follicle.
  4. This is also called the follicular antrum.
  5. It provides the required environment for the development of the oocyte.
  6. It is the combination of blood plasma and secretory product of granulosa and theca cells.
