Solution

Sarcoplasmic Reticulum:

  1. The SR or the sarcoplasmic reticulum is a form of the smooth muscle endoplasmic reticulum located in the skeletal muscles that stores calcium ions.

Function:

  1. It is functional as a regulator of Ca2+ ions storage and in releasing homeostasis during the process of muscle contraction and after that.
  2. Hence, it’s primary role is to regulate excitation-contraction-coupling (ECC) and in the intracellular calcium concentrations in the relaxation and contraction process of muscles.
