Question

What is the path of pulmonary circulation?

Open in App
Solution

Pulmonary circulation:

  1. Pulmonary circulation is a system of blood arteries that connects the heart and lungs in a closed circuit.
  2. Its principal role is to exchange gases across the alveolar membrane, supplying oxygenated blood to the rest of the body.
  3. Transportation of deoxygenated blood to the lungs to absorb oxygen and release carbon dioxide is done by it.
  4. The oxygenated blood then flows back to the heart.
  5. Deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle is circulated to the pulmonary artery, which transports it to the lungs for gaseous exchange.
  6. Oxygenated blood from the lungs is returned to the left atrium via the pulmonary vein.
