What is the reason for the sticky character of the bacterial wall?

Solution

Bacteria:

  1. Bacteria are unicellular creatures of the prokaryotic category that lack a few organelles and a genuine nucleus.
  2. The bacterial structure is well recognized for its basic body architecture.
  3. Bacteria are single-celled bacteria without a nucleus or other cell organelles.

The reason for the sticky character of the bacterial wall:

  1. Another remarkable aspect of bacteria is their protective cell wall, which is composed of a particular protein known as peptidoglycan.
  2. Except in the cell walls of bacteria, this protein is found nowhere else in nature.
  3. Bacterial cell envelopes are made up of three parts: glycocalyx, cell wall, and cell membrane.
  4. The sticky nature of the bacterial wall is due to a glycocalyx or slime layer rich in glycoproteins.
  5. Glycocalyx can take the shape of a loose sheath or a thick, stiff mucilage coating known as a capsule.
