Question

What is the relationship between Blood pressure and Cardiac output?

Open in App
Solution

Blood pressure and Cardiac output:

  1. Blood pressure is a measurement of how strongly our hearts work to circulate blood throughout our bodies.
  2. The product of heart rate (HR) and stroke volume (SV) is cardiac output, which is measured in liters per minute.
  3. The volume of blood flow from the heart through the ventricles is known as cardiac output.
  4. With an increase in cardiac output, blood pressure rises.
  5. Increasing the stroke volume, or the amount of blood pumped out by each ventricle every cardiac cycle, is one of the many ways to enhance cardiac output.
  6. When cardiac output is reduced, blood pressure drops.
