Solution

Relaxin:

Relaxin is a hormone produced by the ovary and the placenta which have important effects on the female reproductive system and during pregnancy.

Role of relaxin hormone-

  1. At the time of labour, relaxin causes the dilation of the cervix and prepares the uterus for the action of oxytocin.
  2. Relaxin levels are highest during the first trimester because they prevent your body from having contractions that can lead to premature birth.
  3. It also loosens the ligaments in the pelvis.
