Urethra:

  1. It is a normal tube which carries urine starting from bladder to travel outside the body.
  2. Considering males, the additional purpose of ejaculating semen at the time of orgasm is managed by the urethra.
  3. Whenever the penis gets erect at the time of sex, urine flow is blocked by the urethra.
  4. The urethra is a shared terminal duct of reproductive and urinary system.
  5. It originates from urinary bladder's neck and then opens to the exterior at the tip of the penis in males and the perineum in females.
