Question

What process can reduce the rate of photosynthesis?

Open in App
Solution

Photosynthesis:

  1. Photosynthesis can be influenced by several factors some of these factors are light intensity, temperature, water supply, and the concentration of carbon dioxide.
  2. If the temperature and light intensity is too high or low, there is an immediate decline in the rate of photosynthesis.
  3. Water supply and availability of essential minerals to plants an important role and affect the photosynthetic rate in terrestrial plants.
  4. In the case of C3 plants photorespiration process can reduces the rate of photosynthesis.
  5. Photorespiration is a wasteful process of C3 plants in which Co2 is not fixed but loosed into the air.
  6. Under excess of O2 photorespiration occurs.
