Solution

Virus:

  1. Viruses are small non-cellular entities with one or more molecules of either RNA or DNA enclosed in a coat of protein.
  2. They are non-living and reproduce only within the cells which are living and are obligate intracellular parasites.
  3. Their size ranges from 0.02 μm to 0.3 μm. And their size is much smaller than prokaryotic cells.
  4. The main purpose of the virion is to transport its molecule DNA or RNA into the host cell so that its genome is transcribed and translated by the cells of the host.

Discovered by:

  1. Dmitri Ivanowsky in 1892.
  2. He recognized an infectious agent, which caused tobacco mosaic disease and were smaller than bacteria.
