Red blood cell:

  1. Red Blood Cells are nucleus-free cells, also known as erythrocytes.
  2. The iron-rich protein called hemoglobin is found in RBCs which gives the blood to its red color.

Discovery: Jan Swammerdam observed red blood cells for the first time in 1658.

Location: The most abundant blood cells formed in the bone marrow are RBCs.
