Pollination in maize:

  1. Maize plants are pollinated by wind (i.e. Anemophilous) and also the property of wind pollinated flowers that produce enormous amount of small pollen grain to ensure pollination.
  2. Anemophily is pollination by wind.
  3. The anemophilous flowers exhibits the features as follows:
    1. Flowers are quite small.
    2. They do not have attractive colour(petals).
    3. Fragrance not present in flower.
    4. Anthers are quite versatile.
