Solution

Pigments:

  1. Chlorophyll A is the chief pigment involved in photosynthesis.
  2. It is present in abundance amount in leaves.
  3. Chlorophyll B, xanthophylls, and carotenoids are the accessory pigments.
  4. They trap energy and transfer it to chlorophyll A.
  5. The green color of chlorophyll due to its abundance masks the other pigments such as yellow and orange xanthophyll and carotenoids.
  6. When the amount of chlorophyll reduces, other pigments can be seen in leaves.
