Question

Why is ATP better than GTP?

Open in App
Solution

ATP:

  1. Energy is required for the body to function effectively. Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) molecules give the body the energy it requires.
  2. ATP is the source of energy for all of the body's cells. The mitochondria, a type of cell organelle, creates the majority of ATP.

GTP:

  1. Guanosine triphosphate (GTP) stands for guanosine triphosphate.
  2. Signal transduction, protein synthesis, and other processes rely heavily on GTP.
  3. The citric acid cycle also produces it. The enzyme nucleoside diphosphate kinase may easily convert GTP to ATP.

ATP is better than GTP because:

  1. The cell's primary energy currency is ATP.
  2. GTP is employed in a specific process.
  3. Because of its molecular structure and form, ATP is preferred over GTP.
