Open in App
Solution

Xylem:

  1. Xylem is one of the complex permanent tissue present in plants.
  2. It is composed of xylem parenchyma, vessels, tracheids,, and xylem fibers.
  3. They help in the conduction of water in the plant.

Xylem is called dead tissue because:

  1. All tissues in the xylem except the xylem parenchyma are dead.
  2. Their cytoplasm is highly reduced and they only perform the function of conduction.
  3. The xylem tissues also lack cell organelles.
  4. Therefore, they are considered dead.
