National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2017 attendees this year is around 11.5 lakhs as the admission process to dental and medical seats across the country is expected to get complex from now onwards. The number of candidates in the last year was 7.5 lakh as the exam was held in two phases. Around the country there are 56,000 dental and medical seats available for students.
In the last few years, the admission process for medical domain has undergone various changes right from the year 2013 when the exam (NEET) was conducted to provide admission to the candidates for medical and dental courses. The exam was scrapped by the Supreme Court in September 2013, which led to the medical entrance exams administered by state governments based on CBSE syllabus.
About NEET Exam
NEET 2017 (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test) is a medical entrance test run at the national level under the supervision of the CBSE Board. The main aim of the exam is to provide admissions in BDS/MBBS courses provided by all private and government medical colleges in the country. The exam is a one tier based one that begins once in a year usually in the month of May. NEETs score are mandatory for admission to all seats (MBBS/BDS) of any medical/dental college across the country. This year, the exam would be held on May 7, 2017.
