IIT Gandhinagar launches IITGN Dakshana Leadership Programme for underprivileged students

IITGN Dakshana Leadership Programme is joint initiative of the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, Dakshana Foundation and Entrepreneur Ruyintan Mehta to help academically talented students from underprivileged backgrounds. The training will start on September 1 and will end on September 30, 2022. IITGN Dakshana Leadership Programme IITGN Dakshana Leadership Programme: According to the latest announcement made by the Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, the institute is launching its new venture and has named it the IITGN Dakshana Leadership Programme. The programme is a joint initiative of a non-for-profit organisation named Dakshana and Ruyintan Mehta, who is an entrepreneur and philanthropist.   Through this initiative, the leaders of this collaboration aim to train 100 students who are academically talented but are underprivileged when it comes to their economic status. These candidates mostly belong to rural parts of India. The programme will help to develop leadership skills and increase the critical thinking level and communication skills of the candidates. The one month training will commence on September 1, 2022 and will continue till September 30, 2022. A total of 100 candidates from selected branches of Pune, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad will be trained in the first round. Mentors from India and abroad have been invited to train these candidates. These candidates will also be given a chance to explore some of the famous and historical sites of Ahmedabad, such as Sabarmati Ashram, Adalaj Stepwell, etc. Candidates have been selected on the basis of the marks secured by them in Class 10 and 12. Many of the candidates belong to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas and other government schools across India. The annual income of these candidates falls under the bar of 2 lakh.   Dakshana is a non-profit organisation of candidates for action which aims at training bright, unprivileged candidates who mostly belong to rural parts of the country. They train at IIT and take medical entrance exams. Intensive training of at least 1-2 years is given to these candidates so that they can be prepared to join the fight for getting admission to India’s most prestigious technical and medical institutes. Through this new initiative, the organisation aims to help the candidates reach their full potential by giving them the environment of IIT.
