KCET 2022: candidates protest non-consideration of PUC marks for 2020-21

The KCET 2022 appeared candidates have approached High Court challenging the KEAs decision to not consider PUC marks for preparing the merit list. KCET 2022 The Karnataka Examinations Authority’s decision to not consider PUC marks for preparing the final merit list for KCET 2022 admissions has been challenged by the candidates. The candidates who appeared for PUC in the 2020-21 academic year have approached High Court to challenge the KEA’s decision. Judge SR Krishna Kumar heard the petition from the candidates on Monday, 8 August 2022. Dhyan Chinnappa, Additional Advocate General, who was hearing the petition has notified the High Court that the counseling and merit list preparation process for admissions through KCET 2O22 will not happen until the Court verdict is passed. The verdict will be passed on 18 August 2022. The petition filed by the candidates states that the elimination of PUC marks in the admission process has led to a massive drop in ranks in the KCET 2022. Usually, the PUC marks nature is high as compared to KCET 2022 exam marks which are generally low in nature. PUC marks play a good role in getting good ranks which completely alters the merit matrix of each candidate. Candidates have also stated that this decision not only hampers the admission chances of certain candidates but will also lead to admission into the branch or a college that they don’t wish to get into.
