National Medical Commission (NMC): According to various media reports, NMC has extended the registration deadline for MBBS courses, added new medical colleges, and increased medical seats for the new academic session. The official notification for the same is available at nmc.org.in. As per the instruction issued, concerned authorities need to submit an Essentiality certificate, Consent of affiliation and other details of the hospital to be submitted by 6 pm on August 31, 2022. The NMC has issued clear guidelines to medical universities and medical colleges to take special care of the mental health of postgraduate students. Students should not be overburdened with any type of task and should get an adequate number of weeks off. Proper working timings should be maintained at all times. Institutes have been ordered to submit a report showcasing proof that all the rules and regulations are being followed on a regular basis. There should be a special section for mentioning all the cases related to suicide, gender bias, and incidences of dishonour to a woman’s decency etc. NMC has taken this step after various issues were raised like this in parliament after many students posted about the problems they are facing in universities. The problems were posted by them on their respective social media platforms.
