National Eligibility Entrance Examination, NEET-PG counselling session to be conducted after September 15, 2022. NMC decides to increase the number of seats in counselling.
The National Board of Examination has decided to postpone the counselling session for the National Eligibility Entrance Examination, NEET-PG, which was earlier scheduled to be held on September 1, 2022 onwards.
The new dates have not been announced as of yet, therefore candidates are advised to keep a check on the official website for more updates. As per the information released by the Medical Counselling Committee, MCC has released a notification on its official website, stating that the National Medical Commission is planning to increase the number of seats in the counselling. Therefore, the commission has taken this decision to postpone the counselling.
New LoPs will be issued for the current academic year (2022-2023). The process will conclude by September 15, 2022. LoPs are basically Letters of Permission, which are approved by the National Medical Committee (NMC) to add more PG seats.
The NEET-PG examination was conducted on May 21, 2022. The results were announced within 10 days of the examination. Candidates have been waiting since June 1. Due to uncertainty in counselling dates, candidates have not been able to take jobs.
Since medical colleges do not have enough staff, therefore, candidates enrolled in PG programmes work as Junior Residents. This is considered a part of their training process. Earlier, the counselling process was delayed due to a series of litigation raised due to the newly announced quota for the sections which are economically weaker, also known as EWS.
