The West Bengal UG admissions will be granted on the basis of the merit, admission criteria of the college and the number of seats available.
West Bengal UG admission: On 28 June 2022, tuesday, the West Bengal government reversed its decision to set up a centralised admission system in online mode for undergraduate courses by the Higher Education department and continue with the old procesvice-chancellorsssions.
Following a meeting with the vice chancellors, the education minister, Bratya Basu, told reporters that the admission process will be carried out in the same manner as in the past, with students having to apply for admission in their respective colleges of choice. The admissions will be granted on the basis of merit, admission criteria of the college, and the number of seats available. As per the information announced after the meeting, the infrastructure which is required to conduct the admission process in an online mode is not yet ready.
Through the new system, one can login and apply for admission on the basis of the marks which have been obtained by him/her in the comfort of their home through the online mode of admission. But the uncertain circumstances created by COVID-19 have made it difficult for the department to set up the online admission system for UG courses in the universities of West Bengal. And since the admission is going to begin soon, the administration does not have enough time. Hence, the department has decided to continue with the pre-COVID procedure for now.
After the meeting with state university vice-chancellors, education minister Bratya Basu announced at the start of this month that the department has decided to conduct the admissions in an online mode.
