Formula: Fnet = m*a

Enter the unknown value as ‘x’

Net Force(Fnet)= N
Mass(m)= kg
Acceleration(a)= m/s2

x=

The Newtons Second Law of Motion Calculator is an online tool which gives the value of force when mass and acceleration values are given. We can also find the value of mass provided acceleration and force is given to us. Similarly, to find acceleration, the same calculator can be used. Whichever value we need to find has to be mentioned as x. BYJU’S Calculator is an online tool which makes calculations simple and interesting. If an input is given then it can quickly show the result for the given number.

How to Use Newtons Second Law of Motion Calculator?

Below are the steps to find the unknown value using Newtons 2nd law of motion calculator.

Step 1: Mention the value of two inputs and third input as x

Step 2: Click on “Calculate the unknown” button

Step 3: The unknown quantity will appear on the screen

What is Newtons Second Law of Motion?

According to Newtons Second Law of Motion, it determines the acceleration of the object for the applied net force on it. Hence, we can say, the acceleration of the object (a) is directly proportional to the net force applied (F).

F∝a

F = m.a   …….(1)

where m is the mass of the object

From equation (1), we can say, that if we know the value of any of the two quantity then we can easily determine the value of unknown quantity.

a = F/m

m = F/a

Solved Example

Question: What is the value of net force applied on an object with mass equal to 2 kg and accelerating at 5m/s/s?

Solution: By Newtons 2nd law of motion we know;

Force = Mass x Acceleration

Therefore,

Force, F = 2 x 5

F = 10 N
