The International Biology Olympiad is a competitive exam that is held annually for high school students. It is one of the most well-known International Science Olympiads. The first IBO exam was held in Czechoslovakia in 1990, and since then, it has been held every year. Students from 75 nations and five continents participate in the competition. The four winners of each participating country’s National Biology Olympiad are sent to the IBO exam. For the examination, these students are accompanied by two adults who are members of the international jury.

Overview of the Examination
International Biology Olympiad is one of the most well-known olympiad exams that focus on biology. This exam is for students who are interested in studying anatomy and are familiar with the basic facts of animals and plants, and want to pursue a career in biology. Biology is a huge science with several divisions, including Botany, Zoology, Anatomy, Physiology, Biotechnology, Ecology, Immunology, Genetics, Microbiology and so on. All of these subjects are covered in the IBO test. A student who has an interest and curiosity in learning about any of these fields of biology can take the exam.
Dates of IBO for 2022-2023
The International Biology Olympiad is held once a year. Every year in July, the exam is conducted. The IBO conducted its first exam in 1990, and it currently has 78 member countries.
Last Year Date
Last year, due to the pandemic situation across the world, the 32nd International Biology Olympiad exam was cancelled. It was scheduled from July 18 to July 23 2021, in Lisbon, Portugal.
Academic Year 2022 -2023
The IBO exams started in the year 1990. Till now, 32 International Biology Olympiad exams have been conducted. The 33rd IBO Olympiad will be held from July 10 2022 to July 18 2022. The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture, and Sport of the Republic of Armenia is the official authority for IBO 2022. Yerevan State University is in charge of the Olympiad.
