About IAPT

The Indian Association of Physics Teachers, or IAPT, works with the HBCSE to coordinate the Indian Physics Olympiad. Its mission is to improve physics education and physics teachers at national and international levels. The IAPT administers the National Standard Examination in Physics, the National Standard Examination in Chemistry, the National Standard Examination in Biology, the National Standard Examination in Astronomy, the National Standard Examination in Junior Science, and the National Graduate Physics Examination throughout India in November of each year.

The top 1% of the achievers of the exam later compete in the Indian National Physics Olympiad, from which the top thirty students are selected for the International Physics Olympiad Training Camp, which is typically held at HBCSE. The International Physics Olympiad team is chosen here, and the team, along with an IAPT Leader and Deputy Leader, proceeds to the examination. This year, IAPT is in charge of the first stage, the NSE (NSEP, NSEC, NSEB, NSEJS, and so on). HBCSE is in charge of the successive steps (Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education).
